Abstract

The article reviews a significant and popular genre of folklore – a fairy-tale. It discusses the main characteristics, composition and solidstructure of a fairy-tale as a genre, which is found in the folklore of different nations. This phenomenon is scientifically well studied bothin Europe and the US. Confrontation of kindness and evil becomes extremely acute and its didactic function is often related to this issue.The problematic issue related to translation of fairy-tales is also mentioned in the article.
